Training organizations can benefit enormously from virtual desktops, but.....

Without question, digitalization has not only arrived in almost every training organization in the world, but is changing the way people learn.

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a proven technology to reduce the administration effort of workstations and above all to make workstations more flexible.

Virtual desktop infrastructures use centralized virtual desktops located in the education company's data center instead of physical training machines. These virtual desktops can now be accessed flexibly from anywhere and from virtually any device. Since the computing power takes place in the data center, the requirements on the end devices are extremely low and almost independent of the training content.

The central administration of all training computers not only saves enormous administration costs, but also offers flexibility that would not have been possible in distributed structures (e.g. at several locations).

So what are the reasons why this technology is not yet established in every training organization?

VDI technologies were originally developed for enterprise companies with thousands of workstations. They are complex in requirements, complex in implementation and complex in administration. In addition, there is an enterprise price level for licensing and support. Further obstacles have been the provision of server and storage instances and their lack of flexibility, which is so urgently needed especially in the training area with often fluctuating numbers of participants.

The solution is Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS).

Virtual desktops are rented from the provider as required. The provider is responsible for the provision and administration of the infrastructure and the VDI solution itself. Desktops, training content and images can be created, distributed or deleted by the training company as required. Every training participant can access the training computer from almost any terminal device. A current browser and Internet access are required.

The virtual desktops are only paid if they are in use. I.e. if also really training courses take place.

Virtual desktops combined with the as-a-Service approach are ideal for reducing training company costs. At the same time the flexibility is increased enormously.
