90 training courses – 1300 participants – 6 weeks thanks to virtual training environment

Thanks to a virtual training environment, the AKDB (Anstalt für kommunale Datenverarbeitung in Bayern) implemented a remarkable training project in the run-up to the Bavarian local elections. In just six weeks, over 1,300 participants were successfully trained in more than 90 training sessions on the elect voting procedure.
Completely without burdening AKDB’s internal IT department!

The deskMate virtual training environment, which has been an integral part of AKDB’s training operations for years, plays a central role in this. They make it possible to implement the complex training logistics of the training courses for the 2026 election year quickly, flexibly and with minimal organizational effort – online, in person and on site at the municipalities.

Focus on flexibility, dynamically adaptable training courses

A key success factor was the quick and easy provision of the virtual training environments. The AKDB training organization was able to set up training courses in just a few minutes and, if necessary, adapt them at short notice before the start. This proved to be particularly valuable for decentralized classroom training courses throughout Bavaria.

Participants received individual web links with which they could access their preconfigured virtual training computer directly. Browser-based and without local installation. For the training organization, this meant maximum control with minimum effort and without any IT support or hardware provision.

So many training courses in parallel to normal training operations. Without the flexibility and scalability of deskMate, we would never have been able to do this

Overview and support in real time thanks to Trainer View

The trainers also benefited from the deskMate functions: With the integrated Trainer View, they were able to view the participants’ computers in real time, provide targeted support or share content. This was a valuable addition to didactic support, especially for large groups, regardless of whether the training took place online or in person.

Proven platform, efficient, simple, scalable

AKDB has been successfully using deskMate for various training scenarios for several years. The strength of the virtual training environment was once again demonstrated during the election preparations: a modern, flexible solution that makes it possible to implement even complex training projects without additional IT effort.

Thanks to the easy access via web link, the intuitive operation for participants and trainers and the ability to create, duplicate or adapt virtual training environments within minutes, this training project was a complete success. Future similar projects will also be held using deskMate virtual training computers.
