Autologin for Windows environments

Especially when using the unique access links with deskMate INFINITY, it may be desired that the training computer automatically logs in with the correct Windows user when starting. This gives you the optimal user experience in terms of access. The participant clicks on his deskMate access link and he is logged in, his training computer is started and logged in immediately.

Here you will find instructions on how to implement this auto login in Windows environments (here WIN Server 2025).

This can be done via an entry in the Windows registry (only possible with admin rights). To do this, search for “regedit” in the Windows search and start the registry editor. Then make the changes below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Character string “DefaultUserName” -> User name
Character string “DefaultPassword” -> Password (If password is empty, simply leave it empty. However, the entry is necessary.)
String “AutoAdminLogon” -> 1

You may need to enter a new character string for “DefaultPassword” and “AutoadminLogon”. The best way to do this is via the “Edit/New/String” menu.

Here is an example entry for the auto login of the Administrator user for which no password is set.

We then recommend a restart to test whether it works.
