Latency display – see where’s the bottleneck

 In Training_Customers_en

Latency“ (also known as ping) is the time it takes for a data packet to travel from the end device to a server on the Internet and back to the end device. The latency is measured in milliseconds (ms).

When participants remark that the deskMate desktop is slow, it is often due to high latency.
With the new latency display you can quickly see how the latency of a connected participant is.

In the „Desktops“ view of the admin, the head icon now shows not only whether the participant is connected, but also what the latency of the participant is.

The average latency of the last three minutes is always evaluated and displayed.

If a participant or group of participants suddenly has higher latency, it is often because their local network (home office or corporate network) is overloaded, or the Internet provider they are using has problems.

Although the main factors of high latency is the end device – data center distance and network overload/disruption, there are a few tips on how to improve latency.

● Avoid local network overload. This is the main cause of latency fluctuations.
● Use LAN connection instead of Wifi connection.
● If Wifi prefer 5GHz instead of 2,4 GHz.
● Choose a place near of you Wifi router.
● Avoid large up- or downloads while working with our cloud desktops.
● Deactivate VPN because if used the traffic is routed also through the company network.
